Remove Malware from Windows Computers with Microsoft Safety Scanner
New tool from Microsoft called Microsoft Safety Scanner can help you find and remove malware and unwanted programs from your computers. The tool is simple to use.. All you do is download and run it.
Safety scanner shouldn’t replace your current anti-malware or antivirus software.. In fact, it can only be used for 10 days after being downloaded. It’s recommended that you download the latest version each time you run the tool.
For real-time and automatic updates, use Windows Defender Antivirus on your Windows 10 machines. Both Windows Safety Scanner and Windows Defender can provide powerful malware removal capabilities.
System Requirements:
Windows Safety Scanner removes malware from Windows 10, Windows 10 Tech Preview, Windows 8.1, Windows 8 Windows 7, Server 2016, 2012/R2, 2008/R2
How to Run
- Download this tool and open it.
- Select the type of scan you want run and start the scan.
- Review the scan results displayed on screen. The tool lists all identified malware.
To remove this tool, delete the executable file (msert.exe by default).

Again, this tool shouldn’t be used as a replacement to your antivirus software.. it should only be used to quickly scan your computers if you suspect something is wrong and that malware or a virus might be the problem.
If you run the tool and nothing suspicious pops up, then it might probably be something other than a computer virus or a malware program. If something does pop up, you will receive a message that states that errors were found during the scan, and you are directed to this website to resolve the problem.
On that page, there will be other procedures to take to fix the issues..
Enjoy!
