Installing Nginx Latest on Ubuntu

By default Nginx stable packages are added to Ubuntu system repositories. However, Ubuntu repositories do not contain the latest versions of Nginx webserver.

Install MariaDB Latest Version on Ubuntu

This brief tutorial shows students and new users how to install the latest version of MariaDB on Ubuntu servers.

As we said earlier, MariaDB is a drop in replacement for MySQL. It’s practically MySQL with a different name.

MariaDB comes in Ubuntu default repository. However, the version in the repository is a stable tested version and not the latest. To install MariaDB on Ubuntu, all one has to do is run the installation command.

However, if you wish to install the latest stable version that’s not already in Ubuntu repository, you will have to add MariaDB repository to Ubuntu and this brief tutorial is going to show you how to do just that.

Installing VMware Workstation Player on Ubuntu

This brief tutorial shows students and new users how to Install VMware Workstation player on Ubuntu.

Few days ago we wrote about virtualization software and how important it is to IT professionals. We also wrote that two big players in this field are VMware Workstation Pro and VirtualBox. VirtualBox cost nothing (free) while VMware Workstation Pro cost upward of $100.

For students who can’t afford VMware Workstation Pro can settle on VirtualBox instead. However, if VirtualBox is not an option, there’s a lighter edition of VMware Workstation Pro called VMware Workstation Player that cost nothing for the free version.

VMware Workstation Player is also a virtualization software that allows you to run multiple guest machines simultaneous on a single host computer. These guest machines can then run multiple operation systems like Windows, Linux and MacOS.
