I recently installed Ubuntu 18.04 LTS server on my lab machine for testing purposes… the steps below is how I gto VMware Workstation 14 Pro installed on Ubuntu 18.04 LTS server… If you want to get VMware Workstation installed on Ubuntu, the steps below is a good place to start…

If you need an environment where you can test different operating systems on a single host computer, then you should probably get a copy of VMware Workstation Pro… VMware Workstation is great when you need to run multiple independent virtual guest machines simultaneously…

For those who don’t know VMware Workstation, it’s a virtualization software that allows technical professionals to install and run multiple x86-based Windows, Linux and Mac operating systems simultaneously on the same host machine.

You can create and run guest operating systems inside a window of the host computer. This is a powerful software and I’d recommend every technical professional to obtain a copy to use to create test environments where applications and other software settings can be tested.

  1. Thank you for sharing your results.
I run Xubuntu but use FrameMaker and Corel Suite and Goldwave and need a windows to run it. I have struggled with VirutalBox for some time but only sporadically get the software to connect with my printer and router. I have hardwired the office with Ethernet, don’t like to use wifi.
I is impossible for me to figure out what VMWare to use. I talked to a girl in Bangladesh who tried to hook me up with a local distributor but there are no phone numbers or email address and I get directed into a tree of choices none of which apply to me. Impossible. You are the only ray of light I have been able to find so far.
I was even willing to spend $100 for a stable Win 7 platform running on Xubuntu 18.04 but cannot find a live people to give me what I want and take the money! I have 8 Gb of Ram and use logical volume management EXT 4 format, AMD Athelon 64 bit architecture so I should be able to run a virtual machine well.
