The LAMP stack is a collection of opensource software that power majority of the websites online today. How does one install it on Ubuntu Server?
If you’re new to Linux or Ubuntu, one of the most popular acronyms in the Linux world that you should get used to is LAMP. It stands for Linux operating system, Apache webserver, MySQL database server and PHP processors.
LAMP is a stack of open source applications typically installed together to enable dynamic websites and blogs. WordPress and other content management systems depend on the LAMP stack to function.
This brief tutorial is going to show you how to install it on Ubuntu systems if you don’t already know how to.
Step 1 : Linux Ubuntu server
Assuming that Ubuntu server is the Linux machine we’re going to be using, your first step is to make sure you have root or administrative rights.
Then run the commands below to update the server.
sudo apt-get update

sudo apt-get -y install apache2

Step 3 : Install MySQL Database server

Step 4 : Install PHP Modules
The final step is to install PHP and its’ modules. This completes the LAMP stack. The basic PHP packages can be installed using the commands below.
sudo apt-get -y install php libapache2-mod-php
