There may be some issues with how much blue light your desktop screen emits and how it may cause issues with your eyes down the road. The blue light your computer monitor emits can also contributes to sleeplessness and eye strain after dark.
Windows 11 comes with a feature called Night light that may help you resolve some of the eye issues you may be experiencing at night in front of your screen. Night Light also changes the colors displayed on your screen into warmer versions of themselves.
The warmer color may help you sleep while starring at your computer screen. You can also adjust the strength of the color to help relax the eyes and ease the mind into full sleep mode.
For student or new user looking for a Windows computer to use, the easiest place to start is Windows 11. Windows 11 is a major release of the Windows NT operating system developed by Microsoft. Windows 11 is the successor to Windows 10 and it’s expected to be released later this year.
To get started with using Night Light in Windows 11, follow the steps below:
Turn on Night light in Windows 11
To enable this feature in Windows 11, click on Start and select Settings as shown below.
On the System Setting page, select Display.
When the Display settings page opens, go to Night light and toggle the button to turn.
Night light should now be active and if activated at night time you should immediately see your desktop screen emitting less blue night and switches to a warmer color to help you sleep.
If the strength of the color is not satisfying, you can adjust it to suit your needs. At the right of the toggle button, there’s an arrow. Click on that to bring more settings or Nigh light.
Now you can adjust the strength of the color to your desire by toggling on a line that ranges from 1 to 100. The closer you move this toggle to 100, the warmer the night light gets.
Schedule Night light
You can also schedule Night light to automatically adjust your screen brightness at a certain time of the night. By default, the schedule is set for sunset to sunrise or at (9:05 PM to 5:33 AM).
The Sunset to Sunrise option automatically warms the temperature of your computer monitor after sunset. Again, this makes the display easier on your eyes and reduces eye strains.
If this schedule isn’t suitable in your case, you can adjust the time here and schedule by manually setting the hours.
If you find yourself working late at night and feeling your eye being strained, you may want to enable this feature. It may come in handy, especially for late night owls.
