Some laptop trackpads allows click actions that can mimic mouse actions. Windows allows users to turn off or disable these actions from the Settings app. If you have a mouse connected to your laptop and you rather use it, then simply disabling the touchpad actions will save you some annoyances.

How to disable touchpad click on Windows 11

To disable or turn off the touchpad click actions, go to the Settings app. Below is how to do that.

Windows 11 has a centralized location for majority of its settings app. From system configurations to creating new users and updating Windows, all can be done from the System Settings pane.

To get to System Settings, you can use the Windows key + i shortcut or click on Start ==> Settings as shown in the image below:

Alternatively, you can use the search box on the taskbar and search for Settings. Then select to open it.

Windows Settings pane should look similar to the image below. In Windows Settings, click Bluetooth, and select Touchpad on the right pane of your screen shown in the image below.

On the Touchpad settings pane, select the Tabs tile, and uncheck the boxes:

  • Tap with a single finger to single-click
  • Tap with two fingers to right-click
  • Tap twice and drag to multi-select
  • Press the lower right corner of the touchpad to right-click

The changes should immediately apply. You can exit the Settings app and you’re done.
