By default, Windows tries to autocorrect words as you type using the on-screen keyboard. If this is irritating and time consuming, you can simply disable it on Windows 11.

This feature is also available on smart phones, mobile devices and others. For most people, this is a useful feature especially those that find it difficult to spell or when a different language is used.

If you know what you’re doing, and simply can stand the autocorrect, especially when selecting different words than the ones you want, it can be time wasting, and the steps below show you how to disable it on Windows 11.

How to turn off or on Touch Keyboard autocorrect on Windows 11

As mentioned above, one can quickly disable the autocorrect feature on Touch Keyboard on Windows 11 using Windows Settings app.

Windows 11 has a centralized location for majority of its settings app. From system configurations to creating new users and updating Windows, all can be done from the System Settings pane.

To get to System Settings, you can use the Windows key + i shortcut or click on Start ==> Settings as shown in the image below:

Alternatively, you can use the search box on the taskbar and search for Settings. Then select to open it.

Windows Settings pane should look similar to the image below. In Windows Settings, click Time & language, and select Typing on the right pane of your screen shown in the image below.

On the Typing settings pane, toggle the button on the tile for “Autocorrect misspelled words” to the Off position to disable.

That will turn off autocorrect for Touch Keyboard.

How to turn on Touch Keyboard autocorrect on Windows 11

If you change your mind about tuning off the autocorrect feature for Touch Keyboard, simply reverse the steps above to re-enable.

Go to the Start button ==> Settings ==> Time & language ==> Typing ==> and toggle the button for the tile “Autocorrect misspelled words” to the On position to enable.
