This post shows students and new users steps to disable Voice access from automatically starting up after they sign in to their Windows 11 PC. Voice access is a new experience that enables anyone to control their PC and send text messages using their voice.
Voice access leverages modern, on-device speech recognition to accurately recognize speech, and supports English-U.S language only at the moment.
In our previous post, we said that Voice access is only available on Windows 11 computer enrolled in the Microsoft Insider Preview program. If your PC is not currently enrolled and subscribed to the Dev channel branch, you won’t have Voice access at this moment.
You must wait until Voice access is generally available to all Windows 11 PCs when it has been fully tested and proven to work.
You can view some commands to use with Voice access from the link below:
If you have Voice access and it’s enabled to automatically start up when you sign into Windows 11 and you wish to disable it, the steps below show you how to do that.
How to disable Voice access auto sign-in when you log into Windows 11
As mentioned above, Voice access is a new experience that enables anyone to control their PC and send text messages using their voice.
Currently, Voice access is set to not automatically start up when a user logs into Windows 11, but that may change in the future. If Voice access is starting up automatically when you sign to Windows and you wish to disable it, use the steps below.
Windows 11 has a centralized location for majority of its settings. From system configurations to creating new users and updating Windows, all can be done from its System Settings pane.
To get to System Settings, you can use the Windows key + i shortcut or click on Start ==> Settings as shown in the image below:
Alternatively, you can use the search box on the taskbar and search for Settings. Then select to open it.
Windows Settings pane should look similar to the image below. In Windows Settings, click Accessibility, then select Speech tile on the right pane of your screen shown in the image below.
On the Speech settings pane, select the Voice access tile and uncheck the box next to “Start voice access after you sign in to your PC” to disable auto start up.
You can now exit Windows settings app.
That should do it!
