How to Install Android Apps on Windows 11

This post shows students and new users steps to install and use Android apps on Windows 11. Microsoft is including support or Android apps on Windows 11 that will allow you to download and run Android apps without the need for a connected smartphone.

As of now, you can only download Android apps in the Amazon Appstore, not the Google Play Store using the Microsoft Store. So you’ll need an Amazon account and you may not be ale to install all Android apps since you can only installing from a single apps source.

Android apps are not yet included with Windows 11. However, if you join the Insider Proview program, you will be able to get and install Android apps today. Full Windows 11 for Android apps will not come until early to mid 2022, at which time you’ll simply go to the Microsoft Store and install any Android app from Amazon Appstore.

When full support is available, there will be no special emulator or other programs required to install Android apps as this functionality is built into the Windows 11 operating system. The Microsoft Store will be directly connected to the Amazon Appstore which will allow you to install any apps there.

How to install Android apps on Windows 11 computer or laptop

As mentioned above, you can’t install Android apps on your Windows 11 computer just yet, unless your computer is signed up for the Microsoft Insider Preview program.

When full support is available, simply go to the Microsoft Store. You can get there by clicking the Store app on the Taskbar or clicking the Start button and select Microsoft Store.

Alternatively, click Start and select Microsoft Store app from your pinned apps list.

If you don’t have the Microsoft Store pinned to your Start menu, select All apps to find it from the app list or search for it via the Start menu search bar.

On the Microsoft Store, browse to find the Android app you want to install. You could also use the search function in the store to search for the apps you wish to install.

Once you find the apps you want, select Get from Amazon Appstore to download and install the Android app. After the app is installed, you can then use the app like any other Windows apps.

One to remember is that Android apps are designed for smart phones and mobile devices, and they may not fill the entire screen on your Windows 11 device. You may find apps that work similar to those for tablet and larger mobile devices with dynamic responsive designs.
