This post shows students and new users steps to hide or show the Task view button on the Taskbar in Windows 11. We recently wrote a post and described what Task view is and how to use it in Windows 11.
You can read that post here.
In that post, we said that one can use Task view to organize their work, reduce clutter and make their desktop easier to navigate. For those who keep lots of apps opened at once and they’d like to separate them by tasks, using virtual desktops or workspaces may be useful.
The Task view button is shown on the Taskbar by default. After all you know now about Task view but still not convinced to use it and want to hide the button on the Taskbar, this post will show you how to do that.
The new Windows 11 comes with many new features with new user desktop, including centered Start menu and taskbar, rounded corners windows, themes and colors that will make any Windows look and feel modern.
Task view isn’t new and wasn’t changed much in Windows 11. If it’s not very useful for you, you can hide it.
To get started with hiding or unhiding the Task view button in Windows 11, follow the steps below:
How to hide task view from taskbar in Windows 11
If you’re not convinced about using Task view in Windows 11, simply hide it from the taskbar. The steps below is how to do it.
Windows 11 has a centralized location for majority of its settings. From system configurations to creating new users and updating Windows, all can be done from its System Settings pane.
To get to System Settings, you can use the Windows key + i shortcut or click on Start ==> Settings as shown in the image below:
Alternatively, you can use the search box on the taskbar and search for Settings. Then select to open it.
Windows Settings pane should look similar to the image below. In Windows Settings, click Personalization, select Taskbar on the right pane of your screen shown in the image below.
On the Taskbar settings pane, toggle the Task view button to the Off position to hide from the taskbar.
Changes here are applied immediately. You can now exit the settings pane.
How to show Task view on the Taskbar in Windows 11
If you change your mind above and you want to re-enable the Task view button on the Taskbar, simply reverse the steps above by going to the Start menu ==> Settings ==> Personalization ==> Taskbar and toggle the Task view button to the On position.
That should do it!
