Installing Dropbox in Windows 11 is pretty straightforward. Simply go to the link below and it should automatically begin downloading the app for your platform.

Once downloaded, go to your Downloads folder and double-click the installer to begin the installation.

The installation should begin downloading and installing the apps automatically.

After a few minutes, the app should be installed and ready to use. When it opens, login with your Dropbox account or create one if you don’t already have an account.

If the apps doesn’t open after the installation, simply go to the hidden apps section of the Taskbar and select it.

That should open the Dropbox app sign in pop-up to link your computer to your Dropbox account.

Once you sign in, you’ll get a similar message that “You’re all set to install Dropbox on your computer“. Then click the Continue with the installation link.

You can easily access your Dropbox file from the icon on the Taskbar in the hidden section.

On a new computer, you’ll be prompted to set up files sync. When prompted with two sync options. Make files local and Make files online-only. Select the sync option and continue. Make files local comes with basic features that allows you to sync your from Dropbox account to your local computer.

Next, you’ll then be prompted to select the folders you’ll want to sync with other computers or backup online.

After the set up, Dropbox should be integrated with File Explorer. You should be able to move or copy a file into Dropbox, just drag and drop it from Windows File Explorer. Within the app, you can also move or copy files into other folders by dragging and dropping them between folders (hold Ctrl to copy).

To access and manage your Dropbox settings, click the hidden apps arrow, then select the Dropbox icon. From there click the Settings gear as highlighted in the image below:

  1. I followed the instructions to the letter (and I’ve done it countless times over the years) especially selecting the on-line only option. DropBox promptly filled the hard drive and then told me it couldn’t sync any more because the drive was full.
    What on earth is going on here?
    I’m now going through some of the biggest folders and setting them to sync on line only. In preferences the syncing option is very sluggish. From the app I can’t see which is selected; on line or local.
    Is this teething problems using Windows 11?

  2. i tried the above a number of times and each time was told that the device is not compatible with this version of the dropbox app.
    i have a macbook air M1 with window11 on parallels.
    i have tried the dropbox in s mode with the s mode turner off and all i get is access to the on line files with no link to the explorer or 365 office.
