How to turn off animation and improve performance in Windows 11
Tuning off animation effects in Windows 11 can improve performance. The benefits for using Windows animations and other visual effects might not be noticeable, but improvements will be noticed when it’s off.
Windows 11 has a centralized location for majority of its settings. From system configurations to creating new users and updating Windows, all can be done from its System Settings pane.
To get to System Settings, you can use the Windows key + i shortcut or click on Start ==> Settings as shown in the image below:
Alternatively, you can use the search box on the taskbar and search for Settings. Then select to open it.
Windows Settings pane should look similar to the image below. In Windows Settings, click Accessibility, select Visual effects on the right pane of your screen shown in the image below.
On the Visual effects settings pane, toggle the button for Animation effects to the Off position to turn disable.
That’s should do it! Your changes to apply immediately. In some instances, you may have to reboot Windows 11 for a full change to apply.
How to enable Animation effects in Windows 11
If you change your mind about the benefits of turning off Animation effects, you can reverse the changes above by going to Start ==> Settings ==> Accessibility ==> Visual effects and turn on Animations effects.
