A recent update to Microsoft Edge brings a new feature called sleeping tabs, which helps improve memory and CPU utilization of the browser.

The sleeping tabs feature in Microsoft Edge makes background tabs sleep after two hours of inactivity in order to free up resources for active tabs, new tabs, and other applications on your device.

Sleeping tabs will fade to indicate they’ve released resources. To resume a sleeping tab, click on it like a normal tab. The tab will un-fade and your content will be immediately available.

How to Turn On or Off Efficiency Mode in Microsoft Edge

Microsoft Edge browser is cross-platform, which supports all of Windows, MacOS and Linux systems. The new Microsoft Edge browser has adopted the Chromium open source project code base which offers better web compatibility and performance over the legacy edge.

A new feature added to Edge is its new Efficiency mode, which is designed to help extend battery life. It minimizes power usage by reducing resource usage (CPU usage) through modifying certain tab activity on tabs you’re not interacting with and putting inactive background tabs to sleep after 5 minutes or less.

Benefits may vary depending on your device, applications, and individual browser habits. 

Battery powered-device should benefit more using the new efficiency mode. However, desktop computers should also conserve power and use less energy with this feature.

The Protection history page in the Windows Security app is where you can go to view actions that Microsoft Defender Antivirus has taken that includes, Potentially Unwanted Apps that have been removed, or key services that are turned off.

By default, Protection history only retains events for two weeks, after which they’ll disappear from this page.

However, instead of waiting for event logs to clear out, you can manually clear them out before the time they’re automatically removed.

How to Change how Long Windows Security Protection history Events are Retained in Windows 11

The Protection history page in the Windows Security app is where you can go to view actions that Microsoft Defender Antivirus has taken that includes, Potentially Unwanted Apps that have been removed, or key services that are turned off.

By default, Protection history only retains events for two weeks, after which they’ll disappear from this page.

You can change how long to keep or retain items in he scan history folder, after which, Microsoft Defender removes expired events.

If you specify the value zero ( 0 ), events are never automatically removed by retain indefinitely.

How to Access Windows Security Protection History in Windows 11

The Protection History page in the Windows Security app is where you can go to view actions that Microsoft Defender Antivirus has taken that includes, Potentially Unwanted Apps that have been removed, or key services that are turned off.

If you need to view and monitor what security actions are taken by Microsoft Defender Antivirus, you need to go to the Protection History page. There you’ll see the latest protection actions and recommendations from Windows Security app.

Events are shown as a series of cards in the protection history. If a card needs your attention you will see one of two colored badges on the card’s icon.

  • Red – This is a serious item that requires immediate attention.
  • Yellow – This item is not urgent, but should be checked when you can.

Protection History only retains events for two weeks, after which they’ll disappear from this page.

How to Play DVD in Ubuntu Linux

Out of the box, Ubuntu won’t play your encrypted or protected DVDs – since most DVDs are protected anyways. In order to play DVDs, you need to have the right codecs installed.

A codec is a piece of software that allows applications to read a video or audio format. If Ubuntu Linux doesn’t find the right codecs, it won’t play the DVD or play the encoded videos.

Certain videos and DVDs are protected. Protected content prevents you from copying or playing them unless you have extra software to handle the copy protection.

Ubuntu doesn’t have it installed by default.

Some DVDs also a region code, which tells you in which region of the world they are allowed to be played. If Ubuntu is setup in a different region than the DVD, it may also not play.

One package that will most likely be needed is libdvd. Below we’ll show you how to install it along with other necessary packages to get Ubuntu to play DVDs and other videos.

When you use PDFEncrypt to encrypt your PDF documents, the content of the document becomes unreadable without the password. Only a user with the correct password will be able to decrypt and read the content.
